Abstract Background

It's Not All in Your Head!

I have lost count of the number of times I have heard people say:

"I've been told it's all in my head"

I hear you.

I know from both personal & professional experience that ME/CFS and long COVID fatigue is not all in your mind. It is a complex & multi-faceted condition which has very real & profound physical symptoms.

And yet psychology can still help.

Understanding

This course will offer a compassionate and holistic and bio-psycho-social framework for understanding how & why people might develop ME/CFS or Long Covid.

Options

This course will offer an overview of the types of common traps & obstacles that can get in the way of recovery, along with evidence based guidance on ways you can start to stabilise your symptoms & move towards recovery.

Practical examples

Most crucially this course will give you plenty of specific & practical examples of how to put things in practice, to build your confidence of how you can apply these ideas to your own particular circumstances.

Coming soon...

A course to guide you in managing your symptoms & working towards recovery

What this course will offer...

The course will consist of a number of pre-recorded sessions and resources which you can access in your own time.

Each session will offer bite-sized, digestible learning about ME/CFS & long COVID fatigue, informed by current NICE guidance and constructed around the framework of 'engaging, regulating, increasing and sustaining' promoted by the British Association for CFS/ME.

By the end of the course you will have an understanding of how & why ME/CFS or long COVID fatigue might have shown up in your life, and will have a clear & practical sense of what you can do to take steps towards recovery.

This course is being developed in collaboration with Lydia Rolley, Advanced Occupational Therapist & author of 'The Fatigue Book' published by Hammersmith Books in October 2022. Lydia & I worked together for many years in the service of supporting young people with a diagnosis of ME/CFS & I have witnessed first hand the power of her wisdom & caring in transforming people's lives. ME/CFS is a complex and challenging condition which is hugely misunderstood. Let our first hand understanding & compassionate wisdom guide you in your recovery.
